On April 16, the 29th Avachinsky Ski Marathon was held in Kamchatka, where the winner was Veronika Stepanova . This was reported by the press service of the government of the Kamchatka Territory.
Olympic champion Stepanova, representing the Kamchatka Territory, became the best in the women’s 51 km marathon. The second place – Irina Kazakevich from Yekaterinburg, the third was Natalia Babchina from Ufa.
In men at the same distance, first place was taken by Evgeny Belov from Yekaterinburg, second place was taken by Raul Sharkizyanov from Perm, Dmitry Klyukvin from Troitsk took bronze.
In the small 30-kilometer marathon among men, Nikita Blinov from Kazan showed the best result, among women at the same distance she became the best Natalia Gerbulova of Perm.
Note that the organizers have reduced the marathon from the traditional 60 km to 51 due to weather conditions.
The marathon route passes at the foot of the Avachinsky volcano, the first Avachinsky marathon was held in 1984.
