The Russian Olympians Support Fund (Foundation) and the Russian International Olympic University (RIOU) open the acceptance of applications for participation in the scholarship competition for Russian athletes “Assistance – Master of Sports Administration / Master of Sports Management” .
This program makes it possible to support current and retired athletes in their social and professional adaptation to their new role as sports manager.
The winners of the competition will have the opportunity to study one of RIOU’s one-year professional retraining programs: “Master of Sports Administration” (MSA) or “Master of Sports Management” (MSU). Non-resident students are provided with dual accommodation in Moscow and Sochi for the duration of their studies.
Executive Director of the Russian Olympians Support Fund, Alexander Katushev, said: “Master of Sports Administration / Master of Sports Management” is the main program of the Russian International Olympic University. Over the years of its joint implementation, about 160 retired athletes from 45 regions of our country have been trained thanks to grants from the Foundation. This training program helped them gain new skills and find their place in life after the performances. From year to year its quality increases. It constantly adapts to the needs of the times. The program’s popularity is also evidenced by the ever-increasing competition and high ratings (around 100 points) from listeners. Today, 50 Foundation scholars are studying under this program. I am sure that in the next academic year, the number of students enrolled in the program will not decrease, and its practical orientation will increase.
Rector of RIOU, Academician of the Russian Academy of Education, Professor Lev Belousov stressed: “I note with great satisfaction that the acceptance of applications for the scholarship program of the Russian Olympians Support Fund” Assistance – Master of Sports Administration / Master of Sports Management “starts for the seventh time. This means that the Foundation considers RIOU as a reliable partner, which year after year maintains high quality standards in the professional retraining of the elite of Russian sport – Current and retired Olympians and honored athletes. They have created their personal brand, but in order to develop their careers, they need to acquire systematized knowledge, study practical cases in various aspects of sports management. RIOU helps them create a personal roadmap, according to which future managers of the sport should make more than one career take-off.
Scholarship applicants must have higher education, high athletic performance in Olympic sports, motivation and leadership. An application from a potential sports employer will also be an advantage. Russian athletes are invited to participate in the competition.
Winners are selected from candidates recommended by the ROC Athletes Commission and the Foundation. Applications for training are accepted until August 25, 2023 (inclusive), the list of competition winners is published on September 1, 2023 on the Foundation and RIOU websites. Training under the professional retraining programs of the UIA and LSU will begin in September 2023.
