Yuriy Sanitra has been appointed as the sole head coach of the Ukrainian men’s biathlon team.
The specialist will work with both “A” and “B” teams, as well as juniors. This was announced by the President of the Biathlon Federation of Ukraine, Ivan Krulko.
“Sanitra is responsible not only for the men’s “A” team, but also for the “B” team and juniors. Everyone works under his leadership and according to his plan. And all the coaches understand that not they are autonomous, there is a head coach who must carry out the tasks and that is how the training process should be.
Our juniors must understand their point of view, and the head coach must see them through the coaches, talking about their condition, abilities and attracting them to the main team,” Krulko Suspilne sport mentioned words.
In addition, the functionary said that the Slovak specialist will fulfill his duties and work with the men’s team until the end of the 2025/26 season. And Sanitra will prepare Ukrainian biathletes for the next Olympics
“We believe that Juraj Sanitra has really given strength to a galaxy of young athletes. Under his leadership, they are growing, growing, showing results.
We agreed with Sanitra that he will work during this Olympic cycle – after the 2026 Olympics we will review and make decisions. But I can say for sure that at the Olympics, if nothing unusual happens, Juraj Sanitra will work with the men’s team,” said Krulko.
