The former secretary general of the International Biathlon Union (IBU) Nicole Resch has been acquitted in a corruption case, reports Ski-Nordique.
Former IBU chief Anders Besseberg and Resch have been accused of accepting bribes, embezzlement, as well as defending Russia’s interests on doping issues. In 2018, searches were carried out at the organization’s headquarters in Salzburg. After four and a half years of proceedings, an acquittal was pronounced.
The lawsuit was canceled after my client proved that the charges against her were unjust.
The inquest deemed all the charges to be inaccurate and brought no charges. The IBU did not request the continuation of the procedure, therefore it is finally closed, – said lawyer Resh Lukas Kollmann.
In 2008 Resch was appointed to the post of General Secretary of the IBU and in 2018 she resigned following the allegations.
