Team management staff Russia proposed to connect a biathlete Svetlana Mironova preparing for the season in the team at the expense of the region, says the head coach of the Russian women’s biathlon team Artem Istomine .
Olympic medalist Mironova was not on the preliminary list of candidates for the national team for the 2023/24 season, previously submitted by the Russian Biathlon Union (RBU).
– Of course, Svetlana plans to continue her career. She did not meet the criteria of the Ministry of Sports to enter the national team, so she did not enter the candidate lists. Our proposal with Vitaly Noritsyn was to connect her to the national team at the expense of regional funds. If the region and the federation agree, we will support this decision,” Istomin told Metaratings.ru.
Mironova finished 41st overall last season with 55 points.
