President of the Russian Biathlon Union (RBU) Viktor Maygurov spoke about his plans to host the final Commonwealth Cup leg in the 2023/24 season in Kamchatka.
– We are discussing the possibility of holding the last stage of the Commonwealth Cup in Kamchatka, but this requires the participation of the leaders of the Territory of Kamchatka, in particular financial, in order to organize television broadcasts, to compensate for certain expenses of the teams. The flight there is quite large. I won’t say it’s super expensive, around 30,000 rubles there and back, but it’s not within the reach of cars, like many other competitions,” Maygurov told Metaratings.ru.
The RBU Coaches Council previously sent draft calendars for the 2023/24 season for further approval by the organization’s executive committee.
According to the project, the season begins with the Commonwealth Cup on September 5 and ends in April 2024.
