President of the Russian Biathlon Union (RBU) Viktor Maygurov told about the pre-season training plans of four Russian national team coaching groups.
– The schedule for the upcoming season has been approved by the Coaches Council, it is now up to the Executive Committee. At the request of the coaches, the number of races for men and women has been reduced to 39 from 43 last season. There will be four stages of the Commonwealth Cup, starting from September in Sochi, the starts of the Russian Championship will take place in Tyumen, Chaikovsky and Uvat, in addition, five stages of the Russian Cup are planned (twice Khanty- Mansiysk, Tyumen, Izhevsk, Ufa). The main competition of the season from February 9 to 19 will be the All-Russian Spartakiad of the Strongest, which will be held under the auspices of the Ministry of Sports. The biathlon tournament is scheduled in Zlatoust (Chelyabinsk region).
Now the athletes are back from vacation and have started training. Most of them are in Sochi, Mikhail Shashilov’s group is in Raubichi. In June, the group Sergei Bashkirov and the juniors will hold a training camp in Shchuchinsk, Kazakhstan, the rest of the training locations in the country are traditional for us. Last September, the Congress of the International Biathlon Union (IBU) voted to extend the suspension of the membership of the RBU and the Belarusian Biathlon Federation (BFB).
