President of the Russian Biathlon Union (RBU) Viktor Maygurov said in an interview with that the transition of leading Udmurt athletes to other regions was due to a lack of funds for their financial support.
In May, Uliana Nigmatullina changed the place of registration, moving from Udmurtia to the Tyumen region. She is now at the Terskol training camp.
– In Udmurtia, they are not afraid to admit the lack of funds for top athletes. The region was, is and remains a provider of young people, there are good schools there. To support the stars, however, other amounts are needed. We should say thank you to Udmurtia for its objective view of the problem and its willingness to release talent to other regions without compensation.
– And what about the strong million for Yemerkhonov during his transition to Tatarstan?
– The subject made the headlines, but in the end everything was decided peacefully. I would like Udmurtia’s work in educating talent to be rewarded by those who are able to allocate additional funds to regional sports, Maigurov told .
Currently, most biathletes train in Sochi under centralized training, and Mikhail Shashilov’s group is in Raubichi. In June, Sergey Bashkirov’s group and juniors will hold a training camp in Shchuchinsk, Kazakhstan. In preparation for the season, according to Maygurov, the SBR proceeds from the fact that it will take place without Russian participation in the World Cup and the IBU Cup.
