Former Russian biathlon team rehabilitation specialist Ilya Yakovlev on said he did not agree with the leadership of the Russian Biathlon Union (RBU) on a new contract, so he decided to quit the job.
Yakovlev worked with coaching groups Yuri Kaminsky and Artem Istomin, his contract was calculated until May 31, 2023.
– We simply did not agree with the RRF management on a new contract for next season. I waited a week for an answer, because my contract ends on May 31, and I needed to understand in advance whether we were going to continue to cooperate or not, because a schedule had been in the works for several months . As a result, we did not agree on new terms with the RRF leadership, and I decided to write a statement.
The main thing in my duties is the preparation of athletes during the competition period, preparation for loads and recovery after loads. I am like a link between the technical staff and the medical staff.
