Double World Curling Champion Alexander Krushelnitsky entered the list of candidates for the Russian national team for next season, according to a document published on the official website of the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation.
His wife Anastasia Bryzgalova, with whom the athlete performed in a mixed duet, was on the list of coaches of the national team (women, mixed doubles). In addition, the former Russian national team curler is Krushelnitsky’s personal trainer.
At the 2018 Olympics in Pyeongchang, Krushelnitsky and Bryzgalova won a bronze medal in the mixed doubles competition, but the pair were soon stripped of the prize due to meldonium found in the curler’s doping test. Krushelnitsky was disqualified for four years. In April 2023, the Russian mixed duo performed at official competitions for the first time in five years and became the third in the international Nornickel Curling Cup tournament in Dudinka (Krasnoyarsk Territory).
At the moment, the World Curling Federation (WCF) does not allow Russians to compete under the organization’s auspices.
