Coach Artem Istomine told that he is not afraid of losing the post of head of the biathlon group if, following the results of the reporting and election conference of the Russian Biathlon Union (RBU), the organization had a new president.
The election of the leader of the RRF will take place in Moscow on June 23. Istomin is currently working in tandem with coach Vitaly Noritsyn. The group includes ten athletes: Kristina Reztsova, Ksenia Dovgaya, Ekaterina Noskova, Svetlana Mironova, Elizaveta Kaplina, Anastasia Goreeva, Larisa Kuklina, Natalya Gerbulova, Daniil Serokhvostov and Karim Khalili.
– The major biathlon event in June will be the election of the head of the RRF. Are you afraid if the current president is not elected and the new one does not want you to coach the group?
“It will be their decision. I can in no way prevent it. Does that mean I’m afraid of this? Afraid of what ?
– Be unemployed.
– I understand. But what are they afraid of? I have no influence on that. It is the decision of the leaders, who and in what capacity they want to see. So, so be it. I don’t think that at 26 I will be left without work, especially with the desire to work in sport.
