Dmitry Shukalovich, head of the reserve training project of the Russian Biathlon Union (RBU), told how he received an offer for a new position, and also said that he continues to help the world champions Alexander Loginov And Anton Babikov prepare for the new season.

Previously, Shukalovich was a coach-analyst in Sergei Bashkirov’s group.

– At the end of the sports season, I turned to the leadership of RRF and Bashkirov with the desire to become a coach in his group, in particular, a functional training coach. They listened to me, didn’t give an exact answer, but said they would look into it. In April, a proposal was received to develop a youth project, in which they would like to see me as the coordinator of this process, one could say, the head coach of the youth team.

I decided on my own that this job interested me. Moreover, the Bashkirov group united with the Kaminsky group, where I no longer saw myself as a coach, and I did not want to remain an analyst.

I did not refuse to work with Loginov, Babikov and Tsvetkov. I agree that elite sport and youth sport are different things, but one stems from the other,” Shukalovich said in an interview with YouTube channel RBU.

– Do you plan to work with Loginov or Babikov?

– Yes. Alexander spent the May training camp alone, Anton was next to the Bashkirov team, worked according to the training program, which I helped draw up. In June, they will unite and work together. I made a preparation plan and also helped to prepare a rough plan before the start of the competition season. I don’t know yet what the interaction will be like, because I have a heavy workload. But these are experienced guys, the only question is the nuances.
