Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Physical Culture and Sports Dmitry Svishchev in an interview with a correspondent, he said that the Winter Spartakiad is one of the main competitions in Russia and noted that all conditions are created in the country to support development and competition.
Earlier, the press service of the Ministry of Sports of the Russian Federation reported that from February 9 to February 18, 2024, the II All-Russian Spartakiad between subjects of Russia in winter sports among the strongest athletes will be held in five regions of the country. A total of 108 award series will be contested across Olympic sports: biathlon, bobsleigh, skeleton, alpine skiing, curling, speed skating, short track, cross-country skiing, Nordic combined, ski jumping, luge, ski mountaineering, snowboarding, figure free skating, hockey.
– No competition can replace the Olympics, just as the Spartakiad cannot replace anything else. But we are simply obliged to create the conditions for the competition of our athletes. When they try to ban our sport, we work hard to create our own competitions, or to host new international ones. You have to cover the whole spectrum: from large to construction sites. Champions and World Cups will return to Russia very soon. We must organize competitions of all levels and achieve our return. Several federations have already recovered, somewhere there are intrigues, elsewhere something else. But everyone is well aware that without us the competition is incomplete. Well, the recovery must be total, we must recover without sanctions, with all our associations: the flag, the anthem, the uniform.
– Do you have the feeling that the Spartakiad will take place with a large number of stars? Winter sports are traditionally more developed in our country.
– This is a scheduled event. The competitions must be with the obligatory participation of all the athletes: collections, reserves, candidates and representatives of the regions. It is one of the most important competitions in Russia. I think that the more competitions at different levels, the higher the level of our athletes, – said Svishchev “”.
The opening and closing ceremonies of the Games will take place in Chelyabinsk.
