Biathlete Shopin suspended for 2 years for anti-doping rule violation

Biathlete Yuri Shopin suspended 2 years for violating anti-doping rules, according to the website of the Russian Biathlon Union (RBU).

— Based on the decision of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency (RUSADA) Anti-Doping Rule Violation Preliminary Review Committee, the FRR decided to declare Shopin in violation of Article 4.4 (Violation of Whereabouts Information athlete) anti-doping rules and applied a two-year ban sanction effective June 7, 2023, the report states.

In September 2022, the athlete’s personal trainer Yuri Okhotnikov told that Shopin ended his career a week before the start of the Russian championship in Chaikovsky, because he “does not reach the level of its rivals”.
