– I will continue to play for Kamchatka. At the same time representing the Arkhangelsk region. This is called “double counting”, the rules allow it.
I owe my career to Kamchatka, my roots are there and I have always received the necessary support in everything. But the reality is that in Kamchatka there will never be a strong team for the classic relay and the team sprint, and these are my favorite events. And the public too, for that matter.
In the Arkhangelsk region, I hope to join Natalia Nepryaeva and other strong skiers. Yes, I’m not the only one joining this team, there will be other transitions. I believe that together we will challenge the current rulers of Tyumen and Tatarstan! — Stepanova wrote on the Telegram channel.
Stepanova won gold at the 2022 Beijing Games as part of the women’s relay team. According to the results of the 2022/23 season in the Russian Cup, the 22-year-old skier became second in the overall standings.
