Winner of the Speed Skating World Championships Evgenia Lalenkova told that she does not believe in the impending decision by the International Skating Union (ISU) on admitting the Russians.
On June 11, the ISU confirmed the decision to withdraw the Russians from starts under its auspices.

I can understand those people who are not only the best in the country and claim the top spots globally. Everything else – well, no. I will not go. And my husband was invited to form other teams for a lot of money, but sooner or later the contracts end, you return to your country and the opinion about you is not the best – you can throw it away any time because of money. We are for an idea, not for the money.
– The idea of performing at world level does not appeal to you?
“You don’t work alone, you work with people, and the responsibility wouldn’t allow me to leave for another team,” Lalenkova told .
