“Athletics competitions in Cheboksary can give licenses for the Paris Paralympics” – RCC

The August athletics competitions of Russian Paralympians in Cheboksary can provide the necessary licenses to participate in the Paralympic Games in Paris in 2024, the head of the Russian Paralympic Committee (RPC) told . Pavel Rojkov.

On Tuesday, Nizhny Novgorod hosted the opening ceremony of the second Paralympic Games “We are together. Sport”. The competitions are held from May 20 to November 9, 2023 in 14 constituent entities of the Russian Federation: Moscow, St. Petersburg, Krasnodar Territory, Kurgan, Moscow, Nizhny Novgorod, Saratov and Tula regions, republics from Bashkortostan, Dagestan, Mordovia, Tatarstan, Udmurtia and Chuvashia.Previously it became known that competitions between swimmers will be taken into account in the ranking for selection in Paris.

– The decision to give an international grade to our swimmers based on the results of the competition “We are together. Sport” allows us to win licenses to participate in the Paris Paralympic Games. We now expect the same in athletics. The competitions will take place in Cheboksary in August. We expect the results of these tournaments to enable our Paralympic athletes to acquire the necessary licenses to qualify for the Paris Games.

Just recently, the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) confirmed the license renewals for Russian Paralympic athletes. This means that the rating points scored by our guys for the 2021/22 season stand. Under his direction are cross-country skiing, alpine skiing and para-snowboarding.

On the other hand, we can say that we will certainly have defeats in the team at the Paris Games. For example, in powerlifting, participation in three world championships before the Games is mandatory for qualification. We missed. The only thing we can count on here are a few wildcards, as was the case in Tokyo. But often, it is not the strongest who are admitted. Blind football, wheelchair rugby, basketball, sitting volleyball – these are the sports where we will unfortunately not be represented in Paris, Rozhkov told a correspondent.

The Paralympic Summer Games in Paris will take place from August 28 to September 8, 2024.
