The ISU has included the Russians in the list of judges and starters in speed skating and short track for the next season

The International Skating Union (ISU) has included Russian representatives in the lists of judges and starters for speed skating and short track competitions for the 2023/24 season, according to the organisation’s website.

Specialists are nominated by ISU members and will be approved by the organization from August 1, 2023.

The list of officials for the season also included representatives from Belarus. At the same time, the ISU recalls that officials belonging to the Russian Skating Union and the Belarusian Skating Union cannot be invited, appointed and allowed to participate in international competitions and ISU events, according to the decision of the organization.

In early June, the ISU confirmed the suspension of Russian athletes from participating in competitions under the organization’s auspices. This decision was taken in 2022 in the context of the situation in Ukraine.

In March 2023, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended that sports federations allow Russian and Belarusian athletes to participate in international competitions as neutral athletes and subject to a number of additional conditions.
