Golubeva and Silaeva informed the Russian Skating Union of their desire to change sport citizenship and compete for Kazakhstan.
– We, like all national federations, after the completion of the Olympic cycle, there is a review and planning to prepare for the new one. And at some point, we decided that speed skating and short track speed skating were among our priorities. Elizaveta Golubeva and Kristina Silaeva are very good athletes. We believe they will strengthen the national team ahead of the Olympics, including the team events. We have notified the Russian Skating Union of our desire to formalize its transition. They already have a residence permit, we are waiting for a decision on the passport. Then there will be an unpinning procedure. The girls are training, preparing for the season.
