Olympic bronze medalist, biathlete Maxim Tsvetkov told why he doesn’t envy football players’ high salaries.
– Representatives of different sports like to say that our players don’t deserve their salary. Do you agree with this rhetoric?
– You need to understand that the level of wages in the world as a whole is the same. Not only here in Russia. If you take a biathlete from another country, he will also earn less than a footballer from this country. Football players from almost every country in the world earn a lot. So accepted. There are big sponsorship deals, it’s the most popular sport. What else can we say here?
– If we talk about Russia, biathlon racing shows are often more popular than football matches.
– Yes it’s possible. Biathlon in Russia is quite a popular sport. But it happened. Nothing else to expect here. Needless to think that here our players will be paid less. It is the international market. He does not dwell on the damage caused to Russia. We don’t have our own market, and there is another. Therefore, the level of salaries will be global and not domestic.
– Do you fancy players?
– Not. I myself am the same fan who comes to the stands. I see 20-40,000 people can gather for the game. And how many fans in the world? Therefore, in any case, it is the most popular sport.
