“Mario went to the Brazilian homies. I don’t want him to be negative.” Interview with Latypov, fan of the Wings of Soviets and CSKA

July 21 began the regular season of the Russian Premier League. The start of biathlon competitions is planned for September, but for now the best representatives of this sport are training in Altai.

Among them – Edward Latypovwho in an interview with told how many days he spent with his family during his vacation (spoiler – not enough), said there was no need to criticize ex-army Mario Fernandez for moving to Zenit, and also explained why he would like to spend training camps with the Norwegians.

“Unfortunately, I haven’t seen many moments of my daughter growing up”

How many days did you spend with your family during the off-season?

– Oh, now we will consider: around April 15 I arrived home, and around May 20 we already went to the first training camp. So it turns out – just over 30 days.

– Can you count in a year?

– We’ve been in training camp for nine months.

Does the family miss you a lot?

Yes, but everyone is used to it.

Are you very worried about not seeing your child grow up?

– Certainly. Many moments of growing up my daughter, unfortunately, I did not see. When you’re athletic, it’s inevitable. It’s a minus of our profession, so to speak. There is little time, very little… You can’t catch up on the phone, it’s not good.

Are the sacrifices justified? You realize yourself as an athlete.

– Hard to say. If you play in the World Cups and Championships, show yourself in the Olympics, then yes – it makes sense and you can be a little patient. But now, when we don’t have these competitions, you as an athlete don’t realize yourself to the end, whatever competitions we organize here in Russia.

What were you doing when you were at home?

– I tried to be more with my child, with my wife, because for many years the offseason is an attempt to have time to do something: you come home, where a lot of different things accumulate, you want to see all the relatives, but you should not forget about training. It seems that you have returned home, but you spend little time with the people closest to you. Holidays are often in crumpled mode, but this year I tried to ignore all other tasks. I didn’t do much in the house, but I realized that it wasn’t that important: well, I didn’t do a bath this year, well, that’s fine. Many years ago there was no bath, a year or two without it can still be tolerated. More importantly, he was with his family.

– What kind of free time is on Seminsky? Just a family phone call?

“Sometimes there is not enough time for this. After the first training – sleep, after the second – some rest, then you can get a massage or stretch. If the second ended early, you go to training.

– Are you comfortable with this rhythm?

– Well, how many years have we been training like this – I’m used to it (laughs).

– Perhaps after so many years a general fatigue has accumulated?

– No, no, it’s fine, it’s not difficult.

– Do you think you are at the peak of your physical condition right now?

— It’s hard to say, because we are not in competition with the best in the world. For subjective reasons, I can say that at times it is not bad, but nevertheless such things are known in comparison. This is the only way to determine your level.

– How did the formation change after the unification of the groups of Kaminsky and Bashkirov?

– For us, there is no change: the methodology is the same, only there are more people. Not everyone is used to it yet, because this camp is the first in such a composition. The guys who were in Bashkirov’s group probably need to get used to the new plan a bit. As we all rub against each other.

– They say that this way the competition is higher.

– On the one hand, yes, on the other hand, there are also disadvantages. When it’s crowded, coaches can miss some nuances. In a small group, where 5-6 people, it’s easier for the coach. This is probably a disadvantage, but in competition – an advantage.

“Fans won’t understand Fernandez. Looks like he hit it big.”

– Worried about “Wings” football at the end of last season?

– Rebounded (laughs). Indeed, they played well, but some moments did not go well at all. In my opinion, they were superior to their rivals in the spring matches in many ways, but it felt like bad luck. But it’s good that we managed to show character at the end of the season and that we were able to stay in the league. I am very happy for them. Yes, 12th place is not their place. Based on the lineup, they should be in the top six.

It’s a shame that the frames leak from time to time. The process is natural, because there are a lot of young talents in the Wings, but partly attacking. But a big plus of this team is that new leaders come to replace the leaders who have left: that’s what I like about Wings.

Would relegation be unfair to them?

– I think so, because they work hard, train well. I was with them this year. Well, they show beautiful football. You can also win with a lousy game, but it’s cooler to play open football, I think. A young and daring team. Well, that’s cool for our football!

– Do you like the latest CSKA-related transfer news?

“You know, it seems to me that foreigners don’t care what colors to protect. Our guys will never do that, but foreigners were offered better terms, so they move on. Fernandez, by the way, went to his Brazilian friends. Of course, I won’t judge, because there are always a lot of nuances that we don’t know.

– But how do you react as a fan?

– Yeah, I don’t care. Zinkovsky left the Wings for Spartak back then, should I say, ‘Oh, you dumped Samara’? It’s his life and his career. Well, why be offended by the same Fernandez? He played for 10 years at CSKA, he is part of the club’s history. Now he wants this. With the Brazilians of Zenit, he is perhaps more comfortable. Maybe he has second cousins playing there (laughs). I worry about CSKA, but I moved and moved.

But it looks like fans won’t understand his transition, they won’t love him for such an act. In Russia, we don’t like it: when you say one thing and do another. So he hit it big (laughs). But still, deep in my soul, I hope the fans will forgive him someday. Mario gave everything at CSKA and in the Russian team.

– At the CSKA stadium there are graffiti with his image. What do you think of that?

– I don’t know, it depends on the collective opinion of the fans, but I repeat, he is part of the story. In any case, he played cool, he plowed! He was one of my favorite players in the national team. Well, really. For this reason, I would like it to be less negative.

Which player would you like to train with?

– I didn’t think so, but I would play with it a lot. Our workouts are different.

– In your opinion, who is more enduring: you or the players?

– In short races, they will of course take us away. If we contract like them, we will suffocate. Of course, we will maintain this rhythm, but the efficiency will drop immediately. They can speed the whole game and then walk on foot. We can’t do that. If for a long distance, they won’t have a chance.

Who would you like to train with?

– I would like to work with biathletes from Norway. Stay in groups for about a month.

– For what?

– I want to grab the shades and then use them for myself.
