Olympic medalist Zubkov named deputy of the Legislative Assembly of the Irkutsk region

Olympic medalist in bobsleigh Alexander Zubkov entered the regional part of the list of the party “A Just Russia – Patriots – for the Truth” in the elections to the Legislative Assembly of the Irkutsk region, according to the website of the electoral commission of the region.

Zubkov took third place on the certified list. The elections will be held on a single voting day, September 10.

At the Sochi Olympics, Zubkov won gold medals in two-man and four-man competitions, later the commission of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) accused the bobsledder of doping, his results were canceled. In 2018, the Moscow City Court found Zubkov not guilty and allowed him to retain his titles. Thanks to Zoubkov, 48, silver medalist at the 2006 Games at four and bronze at the 2010 Olympics at two, he is also a world champion and multiple European champion.
