Romanian national team biathlete Dmitry Shamaev told that there was no reference to biathlon at the wedding with Elena Kruchinkina, because the couple wanted to forget about the sport at least for a while.
Shamaev has been playing for the Romanian national team since 2021. Previously, as part of the Russian junior team, he became world champion in the relay team. Kruchinkina represented the Russian national team until 2018, then, together with her sister Irina, she joined the Belarusian team. In the summer, Kruchinkina joined the national team of the Tyumen region and will prepare for the new season in the team of the Russian region.
– At the beginning of May, you and Elena got married. Where was the marriage celebrated?
Yes, I am the happiest person! We signed in Saransk, and celebrated and played a wedding already in Izhevsk. We started preparing well in advance – almost a year in advance. We found a place, we really liked it. We had a good planner, he helped organize the whole wedding from a distance. The last two weeks have been difficult – the preparations have been fierce (smiles). You get up at 8 a.m., you arrive at 10 p.m., but we are satisfied.
— Were there biathlon elements and references to the wedding?
– No, we decided that we don’t want a biathlon at all. We wanted to forget for a moment what it is (smile). It is enough that 70% of the guests are biathletes. Well, there was no such thing. We had a classic black and white wedding,” Shamaev told .
