Biathlon coach Polkhovsky said he celebrated his 70th birthday at the Vostochny Cosmodrome, from where the Luna-25 station was launched

Honored Biathlon Coach of Russia Valery Polkhovsky told that on Friday, on his birthday, he watched live the launch of a rocket with the Luna-25 station, which took place at the Vostochny cosmodrome.

Polkhovsky turns 70 on August 11. On Friday, the Soyuz-2.1b carrier rocket with the Luna-25 automatic station was launched from the Vostochny cosmodrome, which will be the first lunar mission in the history of modern Russia. The previous Soviet aircraft, Luna-24, was launched in August 1976.

“Friends who live here invited me to attend the launch of Luna-25. We were shown around the cosmodrome: it’s very impressive how everything is organized there. Feel the Russian power! When the rocket took off, I felt a chill, although we were about a kilometer away from the rocket. Everything looked amazingly beautiful the first time I saw the launch live. An important date for our entire space industry, because for the first time in almost 50 years, Russia launched a rocket with a lunar lander. It was very nice to see this on your birthday, Polkhovsky told .

Polkhovsky previously led the Russian biathlon team.
