“Without the snap elections, the SBR would have gone bankrupt” – biathlon historian on Drachev’s time

Biathlon historian and employee of the media service of the Russian Biathlon Union (RBU) Konstantin Boytsov appreciated the work Vladimir Drachev at the head of the organization.

Drachev led the SBR in 2018-20.

– Everyone really hoped that with the arrival of Drachev’s young team, everything would be fine. However, it turned out exactly the opposite. In just two years, the biathlon industry has fallen into a deep crisis. If it hadn’t been for the snap elections (of the president of the organization – Approx. “”) in 2020, I’m afraid that the RBU as a public organization would have sunk into complete bankruptcy. There have been very serious complaints from stadiums and hotels. As an employee of the SBR at the time, I can say that for several months the salary was not paid.

Drachev had no capacity to refuse. He very resolutely went to all wishes and proposals, including mutually exclusive ones, Boytsov told .

On June 23, the election of the head of the Russian Biathlon Union will take place. Outgoing head of the organization Viktor Maygurov and RBU Vice President Alexei Nuzhdov submitted their candidacies for the post.
