The coach of the Russian national cross-country team explained why his team trains in Armenia

The sports base in Armenia, where the Russian national cross-country team trains, is equipped with everything necessary for the training camp, there are no such facilities in Russia at such a height, said told Match Yegor Sorin, coach of the national team. TV.

Sorin’s group has been holding training camps in Armenia since August 15.

— The place is new to us, but not new to cross-country skiing. During the Soviet years, our legendary skiers spent a lot of time here preparing for the season. The base is well known, but not to our generation. Last year, an offer was received from the leaders of this base to come and relaunch the training center here. Especially for this, a ski-roller circle was laid here. If we come here regularly, in the future it will be increased. There are also many routes for running, you can train on the road. Good food: there is a lot of fruit here, so almost everything suits us here.

– In general, are the conditions fully met?

– It is impossible to say completely, but if we compare the height training in Russia and here, then the base in Armenia is at a very high level. With the exception of Laura, where the altitude is 1400 meters, and the Seminsky Pass, where the altitude is 1700 meters, we do not have bases for mid-mountain training of skiers and biathletes . We need a height of about 1800 meters. Here in Armenia it is about 1900 meters. We simply do not have such a sports base at such a height in Russia. I hope such a complex will appear in Russia someday,” Sorin told .

The Sorina group includes Veronika Stepanova, Yulia Stupak, Sergey Ustyugov, Sergey Ardashev, Sergey Volkov, Ilya Poroshkin, Elizaveta Pantrina, Anastasia Prokofieva, Anastasia Faleeva, Tatiana Sorina, Savely Korostelev and Alexander Bakurov.
