Group choreographer Eteri Tutberidze Alexey Zheleznyakov, in a conversation with , said that it is impossible to exist in the world of figure skating without a classical choreographer.
Now Zheleznyakov works at the training camp of the Association of Figure Skaters ISA, where children from different regions came.
– There are many children from the regions at the training camp. How different is the level of choreography?
– A very different level. I traveled to different cities for master classes, training camps. For example, in Perm there are good prepared children. But sometimes you come, and the team doesn’t even have a classical choreographer. And that’s the basis. Skaters without classics are not skaters, but, as I always call them, flying stools. Beautiful positions, extended and turned legs – that’s the whole base. Even it’s not on the outskirts.
Now a wide variety of kids have come to training camp. Some walk with eponymous arms and legs. For a skater, this is nonsense. Where will kids get this if they don’t have a basic classical choreographer, not to mention the universal choreographers who will give different styles.
