None of the candidates for the position of leader of the RRF obtained the 2/3 of the votes necessary for victory in the conference of reports and the elections of the organization. Current RBU Chairman Viktor Maigurov received 35 votes, Vice Chairman Alexei Nuzhdov – 18. According to the results of the vote, Maigurov was one vote short.
The second round of elections for the president of the RBU will take place at an extraordinary conference of the organization tentatively at the end of August.

Zaitseva also noted that Viktor Maygurov’s candidacy is closer to her.
– I probably agree with Victor’s views. I know this person, I know him as an athlete and as a leader, I know how many years he worked and where he worked. And, probably, I have more confidence and believe in his program than in his promises. Because we had a lot of people who promised, but almost no one kept their promises. But here you cannot promise – you just need to act and work. I think our biathlon should be saved by those who have raced there and who know it very well. The last two years, under the leadership of Maigurov, showed that it was not bad: the results went well for the athletes, and the medals appeared at the Olympics – this also says something. That the work is progressing well. I think we just need to let it work and everything will be better than at the beginning, – said Zaitseva.
