Mandzyn and Borkowski win medals in the junior pursuit at the 2023 Summer Biathlon World Championships

Stepan Kinash and Sergey Suprun entered the top ten

Ukrainian biathletes Vitaly Mandzyn And Bogdan Borkovsky won silver and bronze medals respectively in the junior men’s pursuit biathlon world championship 2023.

Mandzyn made three misses and moved up from third place, which he held at the start after the sprint, to second. The winner of the sprint race Borkovsky earned five penalties and finished a second behind Vitaly. The Ukrainians let Croatian Matia Legovich go ahead, who made a mistake on shooting only once.

Two more Ukrainian biathletes, Stepan Kinash and Sergey Suprun, finished in the top ten. Mikhail Khmil arrived 19th, Yegor Makarenko took 24th place.

The Ukrainian national team has already won nine medals at the 2023 Summer World Cup. Earlier, Alexandra Merkushina and Elena Gorodnaya together climbed the podium in the women’s junior super sprint. In a similar race in men, silver was brought to Ukraine by Sergey Suprun, and in the super sprint among adults, Artem Tishchenko won bronze.

Bogdan Borkovsky, Stepan Kinash and Vitaliy Mandzyn took the entire podium in the junior sprint. And Elena Gorodnaya won bronze in the junior women’s pursuit.

The 2023 Summer Biathlon World Cup takes place in Slovakia from 24 to 27 August. On Sunday, there will be mass starts among men and women in elite groups.
