Biathlete Irina Kazakevich admitted that she did not expect to show great speed in the 7.5 km sprint race on rollerblades at the Alfa-Bank Commonwealth Cup in Sochi.
Kazakevich won the race, covering the distance in 22 minutes 26.1 seconds. The second was Victoria Slivko, the third – Natalia Shevchenko.
– For me it is a common form, in the summer we did a lot of work. I didn’t know I was going so fast, only when I was heading towards the finish lap they didn’t tell me about the distance. And it seemed to me that I walked slowly, as in training. There were few surprises. I actually went into middle mode while we were working. One way or another, it happened. I can’t say it’s some kind of cool shape and I feel one hundred percent, it’s just that now I’m in such a state.
I was told to work as much as possible on the finish line, because Vika Slivko shot ‘zero’, I understood that she could compete with a clean shot,” Kazakevich said on .
