Biathlete Babikov said knee injury did not allow him to shoot regularly at the Commonwealth Cup

World champion Anton Babikov told that he was unhappy with the way he worked during the filming of the Alfa-Bank Commonwealth Cup stage in Sochi, and that while working while lying down, he was hampered by a knee injury with which he arrived at the competition.

In the sprint, Babikov finished 10th with two misses, in the pursuit he won a bronze medal (3 misses), and in the mass start he took fifth place (4 misses).

— At the Commonwealth Cup stage, I went down to be in better shape at the Russian Championship. I know my body well, so a little size loss should have been beneficial. To summarize, I’m not happy with the shot, but I arrived in Sochi with a slight knee injury, so I’m not doing the prone position as usual. Prone shooting consisted of “walking,” which is very bad. I’m happy with the speed, even if the sprint was a failure. Before the stage I said that after showing a result I would already be satisfied.

— Your teammate Alexander Povarnitsyn had health problems after the chase. You do not have?

— These are not health problems, it is a particularity of the local track. If you have health problems, you will not be able to play in Sochi at all. Alexander showed a good result in the pursuit, but the last climb just held him back. This is a characteristic of our sport, where you can give all your strength for 500 meters, after which the body stops listening. Thank God I have no such problems, I am more or less healthy. I have more problems with the musculoskeletal system due to my age (laughs), – Babikov told .

The Alfa-Bank Russian Summer Biathlon Championship will take place in Tyumen from September 16 to 19. All races will be broadcast live on the channel and broadcasts will also be available on the matchtv.ru and sportbox.ru websites.
