Zhurova about Golubeva and Silaeva’s quarantine: “I don’t know how ISU will behave now”

Olympic speed skating champion Svetlana Jourova believes that in current realities the International Skating Union (ISU) may not agree to maintain the “quarantine” set for Elizaveta Golubeva and Kristina Silaeva by the Russian Skating Union .

The Executive Committee of the Russian Skating Union agreed on the transfer of these athletes to the Kazakhstan national team with a “quarantine” of 24 months. The International Skating Union (ISU) has not yet made a decision on this transition.

“I don’t know what the ISU will do in this situation, they always listened to the sports federations, but now they may not do it. The athletes had to talk to the federation before doing this, such things are usually agreed in advance, we see examples from other federations where athletes leave with a shortened quarantine. Here everything is fast, spontaneous and unexpected. Perhaps if all this had been done in advance, the decision would have been different now. Well, among other things, there is also a question of competition: they will fight for the medals of the other team. Why do we need to help them? — Zhurova told .
