President of the Russian Skating Union (SKR) Nikolai Guliaev stated that an official request for the transfer of Vladimir Semirunniy to the Polish national team was received from the Polish side and the decision on this issue would be made by the TFR executive committee.
Semirunniy told that he was in Poland and sent an application to change his sporting citizenship.
— We have received an official notification from the Polish side regarding Semirunny. We will contact the Ministry of Sports, wait for information from them on the exclusion of the athlete from the national team list and submit the issue to the executive committee for a vote.
– What do you think of his decision?
– It’s a personal matter and everyone’s choice. Of course, it is unpleasant, but as we see, these are today’s realities. There is no moral right to put obstacles in the way. We will act in accordance with the rules regarding the transfer of athletes,” Gulyaev told .
Semirunny is 20 years old, he is the champion of Russia over a distance of 10,000 meters and a silver medalist of the Russian championship in the all-around, bronze medalist of the Junior World Championship over a distance of 5,000 meters.
