The press secretary of the Russian Biathlon Union (RBU), Sergei Averyanov, confirmed the words of the correspondent Dmitri Zanine about an incident with equipment that occurred during the Russian junior biathlon championship in Ufa.
On Wednesday, Zanin reported on a social network that the competition organizers did not provide skates to the participants.
“Unfortunately, the entrepreneur brought roller skates to Ufa of such quality that it would be scary to let the athletes use them on the track. For safety reasons, at the general meeting of coaches, they decided to run on their own, and for those who do not have them, the hosts of the competition are ready to provide roller skates. Why this happened – we will find out. RBU Vice President Ivan Melikhov is on site in Ufa. We will be able to give more detailed comments after the debriefing,” Averyanov wrote on the Telegram channel.
The Russian Summer Biathlon Championship among boys and girls aged 17-18 will be held in Ufa from September 26 to October 2.
