Ivan Melikhov, vice-president of the Russian Biathlon Union (RBU) for competitions, told that athletes participating in the Russian Championship in Ufa among girls and boys 17-18 years old raced on their skis on wheels.
On Wednesday, correspondent Dmitry Zanin reported that the competition organizers did not provide roller skis to the participants. Later, Sergei Averyanov, press secretary of the SBR, confirmed that the counterparty brought low-quality roller skates to Ufa.
— The first race is taking place at the moment, everything is going well. All experts and coaches agreed that athletes would run on their roller skates. We will also carry out additional checks on arrival if unscrupulous coaches do something with the bearings.
— Are you going to continue working with this counterparty?
– Well, so what? Yes, there are defects, but the rollers of this company are good, they just brought the wrong quality, they brought old ones. If they are updated next year, we will be happy to work with them,” Melikhov told .
