President of the Russian Ski Federation (RFSR) Elena Vyalbe in an interview with a correspondent, she said that a different decision than the one made by the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) regarding Russian and Belarusian athletes would be when the organization had a different name.
Earlier, Aftonbladet reported that the FIS had maintained the suspension of Russian and Belarusian athletes for the 2023/24 season. According to the publication, this decision was made at a conference in Zurich. Thus, Russian and Belarusian skiers will not be able to start the World Cup.
— The Norwegians are in charge.
– All because of that?
– Certainly.
— Is there any hope that another decision will be made? At least once.
– I think so. They will accept it when all these international organizations have a completely different name.
— Leaving aside the Norwegian factor, what are the moods of the representatives of the other countries?
“I will not speak so as not to disappoint others,” Vyalbe told .
By decision of the FIS, Russian and Belarusian athletes are suspended from international competitions due to the situation in Ukraine from March 2022.
