Albert Demchenko Insulted representatives of regional federations, accusing them of seizing the Russian Bobsleigh Federation, opponents of Anatoly Pegov, the president of the organization that won the election, can go to court if they doubt the honesty of the vote, said the former head of the federation Elena Anikina.
Elections were held on Tuesday. Demchenko was initially one of the candidates, but later said the conference was not legitimate because the federation had been raided. According to Demchenko, this event has been postponed until August 19. The federation reacted to this with a statement, from which it emerged that all procedures will be carried out according to plan – on June 28. Pegov later told RIA Novosti Sport that he had become the head of the federation.
– Opponents can go to court, it is their right. But our meeting was completely legitimate, there was a quorum, and we canceled this decision of the presidium to postpone, since the conference is the supreme body according to the charter of the federation. In addition, for all the nominated candidates, even if they were not present today, we proceeded to a vote. Including Demchenko’s candidacy.
If they came, presented their program, participated in the debate, it would be worthy. But I cannot call the statement in the press about the seizure of the raider as such. Saying that about a dozen regional federations is just an insult to your colleagues,” quotes RT Anikina.
She also explained why she decided not to run for office.
– I think that my financial resources are insufficient to attract sponsors. Moreover, I was not able to provide the sports results at the Olympics that I guaranteed: in Beijing, for the first time in history, Russia had no medals in bobsleigh. Therefore, after realistically assessing my abilities and falling in love with the sport, I decided that the federation should be led by a young and enterprising person who has the ability to raise funds, with experience and knowledge in this form,” the FBI Representative said.
