Olympic short track speed skating champion Semyon Elistratov admitted that he still hopes to return to international competitions.
Elistratov started the season with the first stage of the Russian Cup, which took place in Kolomna. Russian short track skaters have been suspended from competitions under the auspices of the International Skating Union (ISU) due to the situation in Ukraine. From October 6 to 8, the ISU Council was held, during which it was planned to discuss this issue.
— Do you think admission can take place now?
“I still have that faith, like many great athletes. Whatever happens, I think you have to be honest with yourself, with the staff and with those who support me. During the period without international competitions, I still don’t allow myself to relax. Of course, I believe and hope that in a bright future we will perform on the international stage.
