World speed skating champion Ruslan Murashov said he remains motivated to continue his career even in the absence of international competitions.
At the start of the season, Murashov won the Kolomna Kremlin Cup 500m with a result of 34.72 seconds. So far, no one has broken the 500 mark faster than him on flat rinks this season.
– The seconds were good, the ice was also good for us and the result turned out to be expected, according to the circles we do in training. It was possible to make an even better circle at 500 m – on the “thousand” it actually turned out to be faster than on the “five hundred”.
—Are you satisfied with the “thousand”?
– Of course, I was hoping for more, I’m a maximalist by nature. And the schedule turned out to be terrible, the gaps in seconds between the first and second rounds are the same as at an older age, when I started skating.
– Why did they run away from the truck?
– I just wanted. In recent years, I started the season with her. Then 1000m is easier.
— You don’t want to lead the “Five”?
“I would like to, I haven’t run it for eight years, I’m afraid to think what will happen to me after, and the coach won’t allow it.”
– What’s wrong with the shoulders? Preseason photos with the strongest arms are just something.
— I damaged a ligament in my shoulder, they told me to pump it up, I pumped it twice so it wouldn’t hurt when accelerating. It is therefore a necessity so that there is no discomfort, so that there are no crunches.
— Do you expect anything good from the ISU meeting?
– A complicated problem. There is hope, but whatever happens with this decision, I will stay here, I will work as before. Even if there are no international competitions, I hope that they will not leave us without support, especially financial. I will not give up.
— Are you going to run all the stages of the Russian Cup?
“I will run all the races necessary to qualify for the Russian championships,” Murashov told .
