The leadership of the Russian Bobsleigh Federation has announced that the conference on reports and elections of the organization will take place, as planned, on Tuesday, June 28.
Former presidential candidate Albert Demchenko told RIA Novosti Sport that he would not attend the election conference meeting as he considered it illegitimate. According to him, the event has been postponed to August 19.
– The decision of the individual members of the presidium of the federation was taken in violation of the norms and principles of civil law, the charter of the federation with the aim of destabilizing and discrediting the work of the federation, creating obstacles to the functioning of its governing bodies, including through the systematic commission of inconsistent actions by members of the presidium, indicating dishonest behavior and abuse of their rights,” the federation said in a statement.
Anatoly Pegov also claims to be the head of the Russian Bobsleigh Federation. Besides the new president of the organization, on June 28, a vice-president and members of the presidium should be elected.
Elena Anikina has been the head of the Russian Bobsleigh Federation since March 2019.
