President of the Moscow Region Biathlon Federation Alexei Nuzhdov told how the idea of organizing a club tournament between biathletes was born.
The tournament can take place a week before the Alfa-Bank Russian Biathlon Cup, the first stage of which begins on November 23 in Khanty-Mansiysk.
— What is this idea, how did it come about, where do so many like-minded people come from?
— The idea was superficial. I heard that I was the main ideological inspiration. I am one of them. Dmitry Vasiliev supported me, a number of federation leaders immediately supported the idea. The main reason is that after the suspension and after the SBR tried to organize a nominal analogue of the Commonwealth Cup, when the guys began to join us, the Uzbeks turned to Maigurov. He contacted the IBU, but they refused. Since then, this idea has moved from speculative to real.
— What if the IBU said something now?
– Who will he tell? The idea is that if the IBU is in contact with national federations, it says the mythical: “Behave well, we will see and maybe we will allow it”. If our federation is allowed to enter, it will be the last thing,” Nuzhdov said on the air of the “Loud” show.
Russian and Belarusian biathletes have been suspended from competitions under the auspices of the International Biathlon Union (IBU).
