President of Russia Vladimir Poutine expressed hope that Armenia will host the CIS Games in 2024, the Kremlin press service reports.
— Last year, a number of important joint initiatives were launched within the CIS to develop cooperation in sports. From now on, the Commonwealth regularly selects a sports capital every year and hosts the Games of the CIS countries. As you know, our Kazan hosted the first such games in 2021, and this year they took place in Minsk. Minsk also deservedly received the status of the sports capital of the CIS.
And I know, Alexander Grigorievich and I [Лукашенко] discussed, indeed, it turned out to be a large-scale, extensive and interesting competition. And next year it will be – at least as planned – the Armenian Gyumri. I hope that, despite all the dramatic events currently taking place in the region, Armenia will be able to organize these events,” Putin said at a meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State.
The first such Games of the CIS countries were held in Kazan in 2021 and in 2023 in Minsk.
