Head of the Russian Biathlon Union (RBR) Viktor Maygurov said that the memory of the three-time Olympic champion Anfisa Reztsova will always live in people’s hearts.
Reztsova died on October 19 at the age of 58. The farewell ceremony takes place on Tuesday in the large ritual hall of the Troekurovsky cemetery in Moscow.
“She was always on fire, full of emotion and enthusiasm. I remember all our years together in sports and beyond. Thank you Anfisa for everything. You will be remembered as someone who always defended our country, including during international tournaments. Your smile will forever remain in our hearts. A person is alive as long as we remember him, ”reports the correspondent of , reporting Maygurov’s words.
The famous biathlete and skier will be buried in Athletes’ Alley.
Anfisa Reztsova won gold and silver in cross-country skiing at the 1988 Olympics and also won three world championships. In biathlon, the athlete won gold at the 1992 (sprint) and 1994 (relay) Games, and also became a silver medalist at the world championships.
