Two-time Olympic champion and honorary vice-president of the Russian Biathlon Union Viktor Mamatov will be buried on Monday in Moscow at the Troyekurovskoye cemetery, said Georgy Bryusov, director of the Sports Training Center (TSSP) for Russian national teams. her Telegram channel .

Mamatov’s farewell ceremony will take place at 24 Ryabinovaya Street. The approximate start time of the ceremony is 12:30 (Moscow time).

Mamatov died on Friday October 27 at the age of 86.

Mamatov is a two-time Olympic champion in the 4×7.5 km relay (1968, 1972) and a four-time world champion (1967, 1969, 1970, 1971) in biathlon. After completing his career, the eminent athlete received the title of Honored Coach of the USSR and became an international judge; from 1989 to 1992 he was head of the USSR Biathlon Federation, then first vice-president of the International Biathlon Federation (IBU).
