Double Olympic biathlon champion Viktor Mamatov was buried on Monday at the Troyekurovskoye cemetery in Moscow, a correspondent reports.

Mamatov died on October 27 at the age of 86. The biathlete is buried in the athletes’ aisle. The USSR football champions of Moscow Spartak Fyodor Tcherenkov and Vasily Kulkov, the two-time Olympic hockey champion Vladimir Shadrin, the three-time Olympic cross-country skiing and biathlon champion Anfisa Reztsova are buried in the same area.

Mamatov is a two-time Olympic relay champion and four-time biathlon world champion. After completing his athletic career, he received the title of Honored Coach of the USSR. From 1989 to 1992 he headed the USSR Biathlon Federation, then first vice-president of the International Biathlon Federation (IBU).
