— How do you cope without the rewards of international competitions?
– Well, what can you do? It’s our sport. You have to promote it first so that people start going there. We have something to promote. We have the best sprinters – I don’t run long distances, forgive me, I come from sprinting myself, so I’m talking about what’s closest. I am happy to train with such great guys who are part of Dmitry Anatolyevich Dorofeev’s group. I am inspired by them – their skating stimulates me as an athlete.
— Would you like to have competitions in the form of a show, like the Zilveren Bal for example?
– Of course, it’s interesting there. Nice image, good lighting. The Russian Cup races are interesting, but there is nothing between them. There is nothing that could interest the viewer. Our long distances are also cool – Sergei Trofimov, Ruslan Zakharov… This is not such a dynamic spectacle as a sprint, but it has its own beauty of races. And this interest must also be maintained among spectators during the races.
