TV presenter and commentator Dmitry Guberniev told that the International Biathlon Union (IBU) is pursuing a hypocritical policy towards Russia.
On Tuesday, a press conference was held dedicated to the organization of the International Club Biathlon League (ILCL) Cup. The competition will take place on November 18 and 19 in Khanty-Mansiysk. Russian and Belarusian biathletes will take part in the race, while Chinese biathletes previously dropped out of the tournament. According to the president of the Biathlon Federation of the Moscow Region, Alexei Nuzhdov, the athletes made this decision under pressure from the IBU.
— The Chinese are participating in the IBU Cup, so it was clear that they would encounter opposition. This is still a hypocritical policy. The IBU sells World Cup broadcast rights to Russia. They offer to watch the competitions here, but they don’t let us in. There is a very simple logic here: either we let in, or we don’t intervene at all. They can be securely sent either “to” or “to”. Sport is beyond politics, and many have already said that. We have to go our own way, organize our own competitions and do as much as possible. There is still no dialogue. If you ask your colleague Maigurov when he last spoke with someone from the IBU, I think the answer will be: October 2021. The club tournament is a strong story, will broadcast it and it It’s wonderful!
— There is a theory that the IBU is afraid that over time the club system will change its system. How do you see this?
— In any case, the Belarusians and I are strong in biathlon. This is recognized by rivals and journalists. More and more often, articles about our sport appear in the Western press. Interviews with us appear in the French edition. We must take the initiative and not wait for the weather at the seaside. They cannot ban us from competing in clubs! Let them first return it, then ban it,” Guberniev told .
For victory, athletes will receive 1 million rubles.
The founders of the International Club Biathlon League were the regional biathlon club of the Moscow region and the Belarusian biathlon club. The main objective of the organization is to organize alternative competitions to the International Biathlon Union (IBU). Since the clubs are not members of the IBU and the Russian Biathlon Union, the activities of the league do not fall under their jurisdiction.
The channel will broadcast live the races of the first International Biathlon Club League Cup.
