Russian biathlete Maxim Tsvetkov said what he expects from the International Club Biathlon League Cup (ILCL).
The competition will take place on November 18 and 19 in Khanty-Mansiysk. It is planned that Russian and Belarusian biathletes will take part in the races. For victory, athletes will receive 1 million rubles.
“I think for our sport, for Russian sport, this is a big step forward. As an athlete, I can say that it is an incentive for development. These are additional competitions, additional money, additional interest. This tournament is different from our usual competitions. It will be very interesting and maybe even help to find sponsors. Because in Russia we are going through difficult times. This tournament will give new impetus to the development of sponsorship in Russia, but of course there are still problems. For example, how to combine the calendar of the championship and the Cup of Russia with club biathlon? I hope they can find the optimal schedule so that it suits everyone,” Tsvetkov said on the Telegram channel of commentator Dmitry Guberniev.
The founders of the International Club Biathlon League were the regional biathlon club of the Moscow region and the Belarusian biathlon club. The main objective of the organization is to organize alternative competitions to the International Biathlon Union (IBU).
The channel will broadcast live the races of the first Cup of the International Club Biathlon League.
