Olympic cross-country ski champion Yulia Stupak said she communicates with foreign athletes, many of whom are awaiting the return of Russians to the international stage.
— What do athletes from other countries generally say, with whom do you continue to communicate?
— If we speak, we do not address all external subjects. We talk about life, about families. Besides, I never write to anyone first, everyone writes to me. I think we understand each other. The people I communicate with are more loyal. But these are the people who came and said we were waiting for you. There really were a lot of these people.
To me, that’s an indicator that there’s still that percentage of people who really want us to come. And we’re really going to bring a different atmosphere. I know for sure that it will be much more interesting with Russian athletes on the international stage,” Stupak said, as quoted by Metaratings.ru.
At the end of March, the IOC announced recommendations for the admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes to international competitions. Recommendations include individual admission, neutral status, banning participation in team sports, and banning the participation of athletes associated with security forces or who have expressed support for the SVO.
