TV presenter and commentator Dmitry Guberniev spoke on about the importance of organizing the International Club Biathlon League Cup (ILCL).
On Tuesday, a press conference took place on the organization of the tournament. The competition will take place on November 18 and 19 in Khanty-Mansiysk. Russian and Belarusian biathletes will take part in the race, while Chinese biathletes previously dropped out of the tournament.
— We already know that the Chinese will not come, because the pressure from the IBU is unprecedented, taking into account the fact that they can participate in the World Cup, but not us. But for us it is the same case when the IBU leadership recommends ours and Belarusians not to participate in this club biathlon. The story here is very simple: allow us to participate in World Cups and we will not participate in club competitions. But that’s not the case, so we’re a little ahead of the game and creating our own formats.
The league organizers are great guys. It will be a cool start, all the strongest will run, unprecedented prize money, no one will miss the starts, there will be a serious fight. We will do big studios. This is an unprecedented event for us, fundamental given that we organize numerous competitions. We do not create an alternative, but additionally publish all the most interesting things for biathlon fans. Moreover, I would like to say about the Belarusians that for them this start is of great importance. There is something to fight for,” Guberniev said on .
For victory, athletes will receive 1 million rubles.
The founders of the International Club Biathlon League were the regional biathlon club of the Moscow region and the Belarusian biathlon club. The main objective of the organization is to organize alternative competitions to the International Biathlon Union (IBU). Since the clubs are not members of the IBU and the Russian Biathlon Union, the activities of the league do not fall under their jurisdiction.
